Όσοι έχετε παρακολουθήσει το blog μου από την αρχή ίσως να έχετε προσέξει ότι έχω αδυναμία σε μερικά video σχετικά με την εκπαίδευση(ιδίως την ηλεκτρονική – διαδικτυακή). Το νήμα των περισσοτέρων από αυτών καταλήγει στο shifthappens, ή σε ελεύθερη μετάφραση στις σελίδες του “H μετατόπιση συμβαίνει”. Μια ομάδα ανθρώπων χρησιμοποιώντας το wikispaces, ένα online εργαλείο για να φτιάχνετε wiki εύκολα, έφτιαξε το shifthappens προκειμένου να καταθέσει τους προβληματισμού του για τη πρωτοβάθμια και δευτεροβάθμια εκπαίδευση στην Αμερική, τη λεγόμενη k-12. Ο προβληματισμός τους εννοείται ότι επεκτείνεται στην τριτοβάθμια, καθώς και σε όλο το κοινωνικό φάσμα που επηρεάζει η “αποδοτικότητα” του εκπαιδευτικού συστήματος της εκάστοτε χώρας, η παγκοσμιοποίηση, η κατανομή της γνώσης και του πλούτου σε πολυπληθέστατες χώρες όπως η Κίνα και η Ινδία και το πώς όλα αυτά θα επηρεάσουν τις ζωές όλων μας… Ο τρόπος με τον οποίο εισηγούνται τον προβληματισμό τους είναι το καταπληκτικό video “Did You Know?“(η μουσική του απολαυστική)

Ας παραθέσω όμως μερικά ακόμα στοιχεία, μερικά από τα οποία ήδη τα ανέφερα.
This wiki is designed to give you a little more background on the Did You Know? presentation. The wiki also will connect you with some resources to learn more about the shifts that are occurring in our world and their implications for K-12 and higher education.
Because we are educators in the United States, our experiences and perspectives are going to be somewhat America-centric. However, we believe that the themes of Did You Know? are global in nature and apply to schools and children around the world. We want all children to be successful. We do not view the growing importance of India and China as negative but rather as additional opportunities for everyone in the world. We do not mean to gloss over the very real issues that countries such as India and China face, and we recognize that globalization and “flat world” factors have downsides just like other societal shifts. We prefer, however, to focus on the positive benefits and on doing what we can to help children learn and grow so that they may become successful digital, global citizens.
We’d like your help. Everyone must be involved in the conversation if we are to come up with a system of education for our children that prepares them for the 21st century. Στις σελίδες του shifthappens θα βρείτε το ιστορικό της συγκεκριμένης παρουσίασης, τις διάφορες εκδόσεις της, προτεινόμενες μεθόδους παρουσίασης του θέματος σε κοινό, τις διάφορες πηγές που χρησιμοποιούνται, λίστα με παρόμοιες παρουσιάσεις και λίστα με educational blogs που ασχολούνται με το θέμα της μετάβασης της εκπαίδευσης στον 21ο αίωνα.
Did You Know? is intended to be a conversation starter. As you use the presentation with various audiences, leave plenty of time at the end for questions and discussion. Questions such as the following are good ways to start conversation:
- What are your initial reactions to what you saw in the presentation?
- How are these changes manifesting themselves in your personal lives? professional lives?
- What do we think it means to prepare students for the 21st century? What skills do students need to survive and thrive in this new era?
- What implications does this have for our current way of doing things?
- Do we need to change? If so, how?
- How do we get from here to there?
- What challenges must we overcome as we move forward?
- What supports will we need as we move forward?
- What kind of training will we need to move forward?
- What kind of commitments will we need to make (with each other, our students, and our community) to move forward?
- Who’s scared? Why?
- What will we do next? What are some concrete actions that we can take in the near future?
- Is it possible for a teacher to be an excellent teacher if he/she does not use technology?
