To social bookmarking είναι μια web-based υπηρεσία με την οποία μπορείς να μοιράζεσαι τα bookmark σου, τα video σου, τη μουσική σου, κτλπ.

The Social bookmarking sites are a popular way to store, classify, share and search links through the practice of folksonomy techniques on the Internet or Intranet. Other than web page bookmarks, services specialized to a specific subject or format - feeds, books, videos, music, shopping items, map locations, wineries, etc. - can be found.

Ο όρος folksonomy χρησιμοποιείται για να χαρακτηρίσει την κατηγοριοποίηση που γίνεται στο παραπάνω υλικό μέσω tag(metadata) από τα άτομα της κοινότητας που συμμετέχουν στις διάφορες υπηρεσίες social bookmarking.

A folksonomy is a user generated taxonomy used to categorize and retrieve Web pages, photographs, Web links and other web content using open ended labels called tags. Typically, folksonomies are Internet-based, but their use may occur in other contexts as well. The process of folksonomic tagging is intended to make a body of information increasingly easy to search, discover, and navigate over time. A well-developed folksonomy is ideally accessible as a shared vocabulary that is both originated by, and familiar to, its primary users.

To del.icio.us χρησιμεύει κυρίως για το μοίρασμα bookmark, το Technorati για αναζήτηση πληροφοριών που μας ενδιαφέρουν από τη λίστα blog που περιέχει, και το digg για αναζήτηση τόσο σε bookmarks από blog όσο και σε bookmarks από videοs ή podcast.

A podcast is a media file which is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds, for playback on portable media players and personal computers. Like ‘radio’, it can mean both the content and the method of syndication. The latter may also be termed podcasting. The host or author of a podcast is often called a podcaster. The term “podcast” is a portmanteau of the name of Apple’s portable music player, the iPod, and broadcast; a pod refers to a container of some sort and the idea of broadcasting to a container or pod correctly describes the process of podcasting.
