Μια κατηγορία social software είναι αυτή του media sharing. Site στα οποία μπορείς να ανεβάσεις οπτικο-ακουστικό υλικό να τo ταξινομήσεις και να το μοιραστείς με άλλους χρήστες. Τα πιο γνωστά είναι ίσως το YouTube στο οποίο μοιράζεσαι video, και το Flickr στο οποίο μοιράζεσαι φωτογραφίες. Άλλα ενδιαφέροντα είναι το grtube, μια ελληνική έκδοση του YouTube, καθώς και το Ourmedia.org.
